Operations Coordinator Position
This is professional and technical work assisting in and coordinating activities in airside and landside operations. Work is performed under the direction of the Airport Operations Manager. Work is reviewed via reports, meetings of results achieved.
DUTIES:
Inspects runways, taxiways, aprons, safety areas, terminal, perimeter, fence line and surrounding airport grounds for compliance with FAA and TSA Regulations. Assures airport is operating in a safe and secure manner within position's responsibilities. Affirms that repairs meet pre-set specifications. Monitors ground/tower frequencies and overall traffic. Assists in planning, directing, and coordinating all non-routine airfield activity (i.e., opening and closing runways and taxiways; static displays; dignitary arrivals and departures; construction projects; escorts). Assists with coordination of simulated disaster drill and tabletop exercises, round table discussion follow-up and evaluation. Conducts Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) training and issues NOTAMS. Coordinates emergency response to minor incidents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of airport safety, security, emergency preparedness, planning and training. Knowledge of federal and state laws involving airports. Knowledge of appropriate interaction with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Airports Flight Standards District Office (AFSDO). Ability to speak distinctly and communicate effectively with the public and other personnel. Ability to take quick and accurate action under all types of operating conditions. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records. Conduct safety and/or training sessions relevant to employee’s safety and risk factors and accident prevention. Skill in the use of equipment, including personal computers and associated programs and applications, necessary for job performance.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Possess a bachelor's degree in aviation management, business or public administration, or a related field and one year of experience in airport operations at a commercial service airport; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
In accordance with 49 CFR Part 139, employees must successfully complete criminal history records check and personal background check prior to employment. Must possess a valid State driver’s license.

FBO (Fixed Base Operator) Manager
Summary
Under general direction, performs administrative and managerial work in the planning, organization, direction, and coordination of all functions and activities of the county’s Fixed Base Operator (FBO).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are representative of the work required for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Plans, organizes, develops, and manages all functions and activities of the FBO.
Responsible for assuring and monitoring compliance to all applicable requirements set forth by federal, state, and local regulatory agencies (i.e., Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) etc.
Supervises and evaluates the work of employees. Assigns priorities and objectives to be met by employees and assures they are accomplished.
Oversees employee training and ensures all employes are fully trained and competent to perform all duties and functions related to their position.
Creates and Manages an FBO Safety program that fosters a safe work environment.
Make decisions on employment, promotion, demotion, dismissal, and other personnel actions in coordination with the Aviation Director.
Participates in negotiations with commercial partners and third-party service providers, where and as necessary.
Coordinates with the airport lease manager to negotiate with prospective users of airport facilities regarding FBO space available and requirements for leasing.
Joins leases and contracts negotiations with general aviation tenants.
Supports the development of pricing schedules and rates for any relevant ground handling services provided.
Manages and oversees the operation and maintenance of Ground Support Equipment, including specification of new equipment when necessary.
Oversees the maintenance and preparation of the FBO budget and creates financial and statistical reports to reflect the status of the FBO.
Serves as a central point of contact for all FBO related manners.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge of current federal and state legislation affecting airport operations.
Requisitions supplies, materials, and equipment required for FBO operation, and ensures their proper use.
Responds to customer concerns and complaints.
Reviews and prepares administrative reports.
Salary Range:
$87,101.23 - $139,013.17

Education, Training and Experience
REQUIRED:
College degree in Aviation, Airport Management, Business Administration, or related appropriate field, and five (5) years of experience in FBO management at a Part 139 FAA Certified Airport. Education can be substituted with (7) years of management experience at a high volume FBO located on a FAA Certified Airport. Experience should include ground handling of Group III and higher aircraft.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time.
TRAVEL:
The FBO Manager may be required to travel on occasion.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to train staff in the same.
Knowledgeable in general, business, and commercial aviation operations, inclusive of fueling.
Considerable working knowledge of personal computers and word processing and database software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, the Windows NT network, and internet and e-mail services.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of administration, management, and supervision.
Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Ability to negotiate contracts for leasing FBO facilities and grounds.
Ability to plan, organize, and develop all functions and activities of the FBO.
Ability to direct the work of others.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with Macon-Bibb County officials, employees, and with members of the public.

Airport Grounds Maintenance Worker
Performs general maintenance duties including mowing and edging airfield, maintaining, repairing buildings, fixtures, furniture, grounds, fences, gates, and hangars which comprise the general Middle Georgia Regional Airport.
Assists in maintaining and securing the concrete and asphalt runways, taxiway and aprons, weed control, conducting general electrical and mechanical repairs. Minor carpentry, grading, and seeding, tree trimming, and waste removal Performs preventative maintenance on equipment.
Assists with the monitoring and control of movement of wildlife on the airport property. Scares and/or eliminates wildlife as necessary. Performs custodial work or general labor as required and assigned; picks up litter from premises; opens and closes, locks and unlocks facilities as needed. Assists in daily inspections of all airport safety, security, and operational areas and equipment including runway and taxiways, airfield lighting, parking aprons, hangars, terminal buildings, fuel storage areas and perimeter fences and gates for compliance with Federal, State and local airport rules and regulations. While performing the duties the employee regularly works outside.
